Collection: Flutes and Recorders

In Waldorf education, wind instruments are introduced gradually, in harmony with a child’s breath, coordination, and musical development.

In early childhood, children primarily experience music through singing and listening, often accompanied by instruments played by the teacher. Formal flute instruction typically begins in the early grades with the interval flute, followed by the pentatonic wooden flute, most often a Choroi. As students mature, many transition to a diatonic flute, building confidence in tone and fingerwork.

Recorders are commonly introduced in the upper grades, expanding musical range and ensemble skills. This collection reflects that thoughtful progression, featuring Choroi flutes and recorders crafted to support each stage of learning.
